building capacity for a tobacco-free world

The 13th World Conference on Tobacco OR Health was held July 12-15, 2006 in Washington DC. The conference featured the latest research on the science of tobacco and its effects, and presenters shared relevant new data on topics including addiction, cessation, public policy, secondhand smoke, and smokeless tobacco. The conference also allowed delegates an opportunity to examine the impact of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control and to discuss ways developing countries can use it to promote their tobacco control efforts and how it can reinforce tobacco control in developed countries.

Through extensive networking opportunities, participants were exposed to successful tobacco control efforts, best practices, and effective intervention.
