Welcome Letter from
Dr. Julie Louise Gerberding
Dear Colleagues:
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) cordially invites you to attend the scientific and networking sessions of the UICC World Cancer Congress 2006, the 13th World Conference on Tobacco OR Health (WCTOH), and the CDC Cancer Partners Summit in Washington, D.C.
Continuing in our long relationship with the UICC and the American Cancer Society, we are once again pleased to support the World Cancer Congress and WCTOH through the leadership and resources of CDC’s National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, Office on Smoking and Health, and Division of Cancer Prevention and Control.
The fight against cancer requires research, innovation, and collaboration among domestic and global oncology and tobacco control communities. By participating in the International Cancer and Tobacco Control Conferences and CDC’s Cancer Partners Summit in July 2006, you will have unprecedented opportunities to hear from renowned cancer and tobacco control experts, exchange ideas, build alliances, and learn how to implement the latest findings through multi-sector partnerships. The preliminary session plans for the World Cancer Congress and WCTOH embody a significant convergence of scientific, behavioral, applied, and intervention-based expertise on an international level.
We look forward to meeting with you in Washington, D.C. and continuing to build synergy among global cancer and tobacco control endeavors.
